Happy Autumn! The sun continues its descent into darkness as we move towards winter. This is the time of reflection and of reaping the harvest, which was planted in March. We wish you a bountiful harvest filled financial abundance, good health, and love!
Here is a blast from the past. Remember your Greek mythology about the Sphinx and her riddle? She sat outside of Thebes and asked the riddle of all travelers who passed by. Should the traveler fail to answer the question, which had always been the case, then the Sphinx would kill the person. In an act of fairness, the Sphinx agreed to destroy herself should anyone answer correctly. Oedipus was traveling and came upon the Sphinx. She asked him the riddle and he correctly solved it. The Sphinx then held her word by destroying herself. It is believed that there were two Thebes. The Thebes of this story is in Greece, not Egypt. Specifically, this riddle does not appear to refer to the Sphinx at Giza in Cairo. Here is the famous riddle:
“What goes on four legs in the mourning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening?
In case you don’t remember, the answer is at the bottom of this page.
